Ring Doorbell Pro Chime Humming

All of a sudden last week after someone rang the bell the chime started vibrating and making a humming noise.

That worked successfully for a couple of weeks. I started by using the 16v 10va transformer that came with the chime. I then replaced the transformer with a new 16v 30va transformer recommended for ring same issue. I ve had a ring video doorbell for about two years now.

I just installed a ring pro and connected the power kit to 1 of 2 mechanical doorbell chimes in our 1 year old house with a pre existing 16v transformer. I ran brand new doorbell wire to support this installation. Disconnected the ring doorbell and reinstalled old doorbell button. No more buzzing 12v at both chimes and button and doorbell button and chimes work again.

My solution was to bypass the chime by wiring the pro power kit directly inline with the ring doorbell. Problems can arise however when a doorbell mechanism draws so much power that there s not enough left over to power your ring video doorbell pro. The chime only dings but does not dong or has other unusual behavior. Was getting 12v out but only 6v at both chimes and ring doorbell.

My ring video doorbell 2 is buzzing non stop after working well for 6 months. You might also hear a constant buzzing sound from the chime. I replaced the doorbell chime with a heath zenith 2735 from the approved list same issue. After some reading i realized that due to the pro power kit any wired chime would more than likely hum.

A chime connector may be necessary if. I have two ring pro video doorbells connected to a mechanical chime. Essentially you insert the front and trans doorbell wires to the bypass mode wire.
